1998 World Cat 26.6 SC (266 Sport Cuddy) – Factory Overview

The 1998 World Cat 266 Sport Cuddy (SC) was one of the original three models launched when the World Cat brand debuted in 1998, introducing a new generation of offshore power catamarans focused on ride quality, stability, and fishability.

Designed as a trailerable offshore fishing cat, the 266 SC combines wide beam stability with efficient twin-hull performance, making it ideal for serious anglers and long-range coastal runs.

Hull & Ride

World Cat’s patented semi-displacement twin hull design delivers a smoother, more stable ride than traditional monohulls, especially in rough offshore conditions. The twin hulls split wave impact, reducing pounding and fatigue while improving fuel efficiency and control.

Layout & Fishability

Large, open cockpit designed for offshore fishing
Transom fish box and rigging station
Wide foredeck casting platform
Easy walkaround side decks
Raw-water washdown and practical fishing layout
The design emphasizes uncluttered deck space and 360° fishability, a major advantage over comparable monohulls.

Cabin (Sport Cuddy)

Compact cuddy cabin with double berth
Rod storage
Marine head
Functional overnight capability
While not oversized, the cabin provides practical shelter and overnight use without sacrificing deck space.

Performance

Typical power: Twin outboards (commonly Yamaha)
Cruise: ~30 knots
Top speed: 40+ knots (depending on power)
Key Specifications (Factory Range)

Factory Positioning

The 266 SC was built for boaters who wanted:
